HOW HEMP IS REALLY GROWN: OLD SCHOOL HEMP FARMING.

HERBAL SALVATION HEMP FARMING: OLD SCHOOL VS. NEW SCHOOL

Herbal Salvation finds tremendous benefit in using many different “old School” farm techniques. These are practices and secrets that we have gratefully learned from some of the best growers in the Emerald Triangle, Tacoma Washington, and Boulder Colorado. As a family run business, we will always be most humbled and respectful of the awesome growers here in Oregon who loved us when we were new and helped us get our organic farming techniques and practices to the next level. You folks gave us wings and taught us to fly. You know who you are. Thank you from all of us.

WHAT DEFINES OLD SCHOOL HEMP FARMING?

So, what is Old School? Old school refers to a group of concepts and practices that were developed by trial and error from the grows of the sixties and seventies. Organic is the core principle – it matters all of the way from seed to shelf, and ultimately to you.

WHAT DEFINES NEW SCHOOL HEMP FARMING?

What about New School? New School is all about the latest technology from fertilizers and watering systems, to controlled environments and machine processing. Speed is the core principle – faster growth equates into more yield, more profit, and in our opinion more quality problems.

FOR THE HIGHEST PRODUCT QUALITY, OLD SCHOOL IS THE WAY.

Herbal Salvation hemp is all about quality. Our 80-acre family owned company farm has never been farmed for anything but hemp and out of 80 acres we only grow hemp on 12 acres. The rest is reserved for the wildlife that lives there. This allows us to focus on nothing but the finest hemp strains for the very best quality, year after year.

HOW DOES HERBAL SALVATION PRODUCE SUCH HIGH-QUALITY HEMP FLOWER?

It starts with the mindful ground preparation on our grow patches. Once rows are set and raised beds are pressed we only use organic mulch to help with weed control.  Irrigation is supplied via reusable drip lines that are laid down and attached to main lines that are fed from the artesian spring that originates on our farm. This spring flows all year long.

Planting begins with a 48-hour full blast watering of all 3 of our grow patches. We use 5hp pumps running at 120 gallons per minute sent through a 3” pipe through double filters. This ensures pure and pH balanced water. The water then arrives on the field at 11psi in the drip lines. This watering soaks the entire raised bed and middle isles in the field. After the initial water, we wait 72 hours and begin planting. Each 4-acre grow patch is planted in one day with our hand selected starts and clones.

WHAT TYPE OF IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT DOES HERBAL SALVATION USE?

Herbal Salvation recommends and uses Rain-Flo Irrigation products and supplies

WHEN DO WE PLANT? AND WHEN DO WE HARVEST?

We plant our yearly hemp crops in late June and early July and leave them to grow and mature until mid-October, but no later than Halloween, as that’s usually our first snow.

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE IN AN OUTDOOR GROW WITH FREEZING TEMPERATURES AT NIGHT?

We learned this little trick from some really good tomato farmers, we cover them up the first night that the temperature dips to 40 degrees. This allows the flowering of the hemp to really finish properly. We simply pull back the covers as we harvest and move the whole plant inside for processing.

TRIMMING IS A HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK, HOW DOES HERBAL SALVATION DO IT?

We start with a 7 to 12-day whole plant hang-dry, minus any outer branch huge colas or bushy center branches so the plants do not umbrella* and develop any problems during the drying process.

*Umbrella- this is when the weight of the whole plant hanging upside down under gravity forces the branches to fold into each other and make it harder for air flow to reach the buds in the dry room, which can be bad because mold can develop.

We then section the plants into single branches and remove all of the fan leaves. From there we hand buck all the buds from the stems. (This is a process that will test your patience.) Once all the buds are separated from the stems and sorted by size it’s off to the trimmer room where all buds get a light machine trim and then a hand finish before curing.

WHAT TYPE OF MACHINE TRIMMERS DOES HERBAL SALVATION USE?

  • We use Centurion Pro Gladiators for smalls and bio mass.
  • We use the Ultra Trimmer for flower product.
  • Then we hand trim finish all of our flower product before curing.

HOW LONG DOES HERBAL SALVATION CURE ITS FLOWER?

As a rule, we cure flower for a minimum of 40 days before we start looking at it from a quality control perspective. Most flower cures very well at about 60 days.

We have a unique glass jar curing technique for our hemp here at Herbal Salvation. We burp it once a day at the start of the process and less as time goes on toward that 60-day target. This provides for an outstanding finish.

A FINAL THOUGHT FOR YOU TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING QUALITY HEMP FLOWER.

While some hemp growers claim to be, and actually are true, good, and honest, IT IS RARE. Most new growers seem to be about cutting corners so they can get to market sooner for less cost with product that is lousy quality. What’s in that for the consumer?

When you buy Herbal Salvation Hemp, we offer a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee on every product we sell.

Thank You, from all of us.
